About Focus Systems

Focus Systems Corporation was formed in 1982 with the goal of applying advanced technology to the management of retail operations. Initial activities focused on the application of a unique, proprietary methodology for optimizing the scheduling of personnel on the selling floor. Derived from research conducted at MIT, the methodology led to the development of the Q/SERV Scheduling system.

Developed as a companion product, Q/SERV Time and Attendance has been in live operation since 1993. More recently, Q/SERV has been recast using component oriented technologies, vastly simplifying integration and deployment in the retail organization. At the same time, Focus Systems has continued to support Q/SERV versions implemented on earlier technologies.

Labor management systems remain Focus Systems' principal product area, and the retail industry the principal target market. Historically, Focus Systems has specialized in satisfying the needs of large organizations with sophisticated requirements.

Paralleling the technical growth has been the addition of numerous new functions. Today’s Q/SERV systems embody 20 years of experience and refinement.
