Applications

Q/SERV applications are formed from the various Q/SERV components. The components may be combined into a complete, integrated application or used in conjunction with a 3rd party or in-house system. The most common Q/SERV applications are Scheduling and Time & Attendance, or both of these combined.

In all cases Q/SERV includes numerous features to ensure exceptional ease of use. For example, store and distribution center users are only confronted with menu options and an organizational scope relevant to their activities, while corporate users have full access to the over 150 menu options incorporated into Q/SERV. A context sensitive help facility provides instant access to over four thousand lines of explanatory text. Most people are able to generate schedules with only a few hours training.

Routine database maintenance is simplified through the application of property inheritance based on the organization and calendar trees. For example, normal store hours can be set at the company or region level with exceptions specified only for locations that differ from the norm.

Once initial database preparation is completed, user time is normally less than one to two hours per week even for relatively large stores. Actual schedule generation and printing is initiated from a single screen and completed in unattended mode. The store user can manually edit schedules using mouse operations, with the resulting impact on costs and hours immediately reflected. Automated data import and export programs minimize requirements for manual data entry.
